Credits earned by the end of your FRESHMAN Year… Earned at least 7.0 credits 1 cr. in math (algebra, level of geometry or beyond) 1 cr. in science (a level of biology) 1 cr. in social studies (a level of US history) 1 cr. English (a level of English 1 ) .5 cr. PE .5 cr. health .5 cr. elective
Graduation RequirementsEarn a minimum of 26 credits • Meet the following specific subject and credit requirements: • Earn 4 credits of English • Earn 3 credits of Social Studies • Earn 2 credits of Math (Algebra and Geometry - 3 credits for college) • Earn 2 credits of Science (Biological and Physical Science - 3 credits for college) • Earn 1.5 credits of Physical Education • Earn .5 credit of Health Education • Earn .5 credit of Computer Literacy • Option A: Earn 1 credit of fine arts and 1 credit of career technical education OR • Option B: Earn 2 credits of world language, .5 credit of fine arts and .5 credit of career technical education
Retaking a Course Due to a Failure Grade… • Plan on Summer School at East or Memorial • It is YOUR responsibility to work with your counselor around failed courses • Career Cruising may not let you select the next course in the sequence without making up the failure • Select the courses you need to re-take codes
Flip to the check box side of the course card… • Grade eligible courses – wish list • Shaded = Required Class • * = Fees may apply • English as a Second Language and/or Special Education Services • only for students that receive services • contact the ESL counselor or case manager to assist with course selection
Flip to the information side of the course card… • ID number, Last and First Name, Current Grade and 2nd Block teacher • Circle or write in: • credit amount • course number • course name if it is not included on the card • Required courses on card • Write in elective choices in the boxes under the required courses

Biology Physical Science General Physics Biology Honors General Physics Math Physics 1 SCIENCE2 years for a LAF diploma (biological and physical science) 3-4 years for college admission (chemistry) • Select Physical Science (SCI2020) if you are not intending on electing another science course after your second year of science • Select General Physics (SCI2030) if you are considering college as a secondary school option • Select Math Physics 1 (SCI2040) if you are considering a science or medical field post high school
Physical Education • Physical Education 2 is required (already on course card) • Physical Education 2 must be taken before Weight Training 1 • Weight training 1 does not take the place of Physical Education 2
You now have 4.5 required credits listed on your course card… • Select 3.5 additional elective credits • 8 credits total (7 credits guaranteed) • For each course fill in: • Credit amount • Course number • Course name
Alternate Course Requests • Select at least 3-4 alternate courses • These courses will only be used if you do not receive your elective course requests. • If you do not add alternative course requests courses may be selected for you.
Final Verification • Signed up for 8 credits • Selected 3-4 Alternate Courses • Clearly written course numbers • Signatures • Course selections are final selections!!!
Music Classes for 10th Grade are offered Odd or Even Days • Odd days: wind ensemble, philharmonic orchestra and concert choir • Even days: jazz ensemble and advanced concert choir - audition only • Other options for even days: possible English course, study hall, or teacher assistant • Odd and Even days are defined by calendar dates – Jan. 5th would be an odd day
Scheduling Policies • Retake for grade replacement • Doubling up • Grade Level (Social Promotion) • Teacher signatures are not required for honors level courses but conversations are strongly recommended • Level changes • Dropping a class • Schedule changes
Appropriate Schedule Change Requests • Failure of graduation requirements • Recommendation not met • Not a full-time student (7 credits) • Summer coursework necessitates a change • 3 academic courses in 1 semester • Level Changes
Scheduling Timeline • Schedule cards should be completed ASAP • Turn in card to 2nd block teacher • Students will be entering course requests into Career Cruising Course Planner 2/6-2/17
What should I have accomplished by the end of my SOPHOMORE year? • Took a PSAT / PLAN practice test • Used Career Cruising program • Have an idea about a post high school plan • Made up failed required courses in Summer School • Been involved in an extracurricular • Learned how to read a transcript • Implemented how to be a successful student • Know out who can help me at La Follette
