  2. 2003 - 2004 • Mountains beyond Mountains by Tracy Kidder brings philanthropic attention to Paul Farmer's work with Partners In Health

  3. 2005 - 2006 • Partners In Health (PIH) AIDS program is funded in Rwanda by the William J. Clinton Foundation • PIH provides access to quality rural health care for approximately 200,000 people in Lesotho

  4. 2007 - 2008 • PIH expands services to 125,000 people in rural Malawi

  5. 2009 • Dr. Farmer is appointed by Former US President William Clinton as United Nations Deputy Special Envoy to Haiti • An $8,000,000 grant from the Doris Duke Foundation is awarded to PIH, Brigham and Women's Hospital, and Harvard University to develop a model community healthcare program in Rwanda • PIH partners with Navajo Nation Community Health Representative Program, Indian Health Service, and Brigham and Women's Hospital to create the Community Outreach and Patient Empowerment (COPE) Project

  6. 2010 • Harvard names Dr. Farmer a University Professor, their highest distiction for faculty members • PIH announces the development of a new teaching hospital in post-earthquake Haiti

  7. 2011 • PIH begins a project to prevent and treat HIV/AIDS in a Dominican Republic border town that is home to Haitian migrants • PIH establishes Compañeros En Salud to improve health services in Chiapas, Mexico

  8. 2012 • Dr. Farmer is appointed to serve as the UN Secretary-General’s Special Adviser on Community Based Medicine and Lessons From Haiti

  9. 2013 • Dr. Farmer is named U.N. Special Advisor for Haiti Cholera Efforts • PIH continues to provide and expand Community Health Services in the most impoverished areas
