  1. Corornavirus – Global pandemic Need medical attention Visit our website: www.add15years.in

  2. Corona In India, a glance on statistics! Coronavirus first came in India in mid February this year, when number of cases were just 3. Three months later, as on, May 15, numbers climbed to 85,784 Today, total number of cases inn India are more than 950,000! Thanks to increased medical care and caution among people, death rate has been steadily falling. It is 2.6% for now with recovery rate at 63% But the sad fact is that the rate of new cases emerging is increasing faster than the new cases being recovered! Visit our website: www.add15years.in

  3. Updates on COVID-19 vaccine • Amidst the staggering figures and considering the impact on economics and human interaction, continuous lockdown is not a solution to prevent the spread. • Thus, it is really important, that people naturally become immune to the virus. A proper vaccine would assist in developing that immunity. • Today (15th July), the first batch of first coronavirus vaccine, developed by Russia would be released, followed by second batch due on 20th July. • India’s COVAXIN is not behind the race, clinical trials are being done, and if everything goes to plan, India would be second to release a vaccine (Expected date: 15th August) Visit our website: www.add15years.in

  4. Ways of transmissions • Vaccines helps to get you cured. But recall the famous saying: ‘Prevention is better than cure’. So to understand how to prevent the virus, it is important to know how spreads at the first place. 1. Droplets: COVID-19 spreads mainly through droplets. Thus, infected person if sneezes, coughs, exhales, within 6 feet, he/she may breathe the virus into you. 2. Surface contact: Droplets contacted by touching surfaces may reach one’s body by then accidental touching his/her mouth, nose or eyes 3. Air transmission: Virus can be retained in air for as long as 3 hours. Inhaling it can make you infected. However, it is not a major transmitter. Visit our website: www.add15years.in

  6. WHAT WHO RECOMMENDS Visit our website: www.add15years.in

  7. WHO recommendations? • Disease transmission should be under control: 1. Quarantine and isolation 2. Social distancing 3. Contact tracing • Health systems across the world should be able to detect all COVID-19 positive cases: 1. Rapid testing is required 2. Every case must be treated 3. Tracing every contact: Trace everyone who comes within 6 feet of infected person. • Hotspots risks should be minimized in vulnerable cases like cinemas, schools, buses, malls, restaurants, colleges, parties, medical clinics and conferences. 8. WHO’s recommendation for essential places Schools: • Plan and educate by practicing “social distancing” • Separate students’ desks at 6 feet apart • Use masks • Use sanitizers Workplaces: • Rotate staff with work from home and office • Practice social distancing • Face masks to prevent others Essential items places: • Screening and testing is the key to all other steps • Take temperature • Screen with routine questions Visit our website: www.add15years.in

  9. Medical precautions • The four mantras need to be followed to contain the spread are: • Test • Trace • Isolate • Protect (PPE kits) Testing: It has to be done on a mass scale to resume businesses safely and confidently. For this rapid testing equipment should be developed and more people for testing should be trained Tracing: Tracing proves to be a significant way to detect whether one has come within 2 meters of distance. This is done using apps like Apple COVID-19 app, Arogya-Setu app etc. Isolate: Those especially who have come overseas, or has been recently infected are advised be isolated to avoid potential transmission. Protect: People who are more hostile to the virus are required to wear PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) and others should wear masks at all times. This is to create a barrier between the wearer and anything that can make the virus enter into your body. Visit our website: www.add15years.in

  10. How I can adjust to new normal • Your mental well-being matters! If you feel anxious too often, do check your thinking errors. Your sanity is limited by the actions that are in your control. Thinking/worrying about something beyond your ability is not a good idea. • Better accept the reality and respect the restrictions. Work from home, practice some yoga/exercise, eat home-made/healthy food. • Although social distancing is important, it does not equate to social isolation. Use technology/media to stay connected. After all, we are human ‘beings’. • Anybody can get infected hence all of us have to prepare ourselves for what will we do for the 2 weeks' isolation. We may keep books to read, but now being online is such a blessing; mobile phones are a big blessing where we can do video chat with our family members, or we can watch movies, or we can watch other daily soaps/serials. • Be intentionally joyful.
