  1. Quality Enhancement PlanOpen Forums Georgia College October 17-19, 2012

  2. What is a “Quality Enhancement Plan”? A Quality Enhancement Plan is a focused institutional plan aligned with the Georgia College mission, one that • has potential for broad impact, • involves leadership of faculty and staff, and • centers on improving student learning. The plan is an important component of GC’s SACS reaffirmation of accreditation, and is an opportunity to bring resources and efforts together around a student-learning theme in order to accomplish more effectively the Georgia College mission.

  3. Who and What contribute to the Plan? Anyone and everyone across the university can contribute to theQuality Enhancement Plan. Possible components of a Plan: • curriculum design or redesign, • learning beyond the classroom, • new or expanded programs offered by the LITC, Univ. Housing, SGA, Career Center, etc., and • infrastructure components.

  4. What must be included in the Plan? There are very few “musts” for the Quality Enhancement Plan…we are given broad flexibility to design a plan that matches our particular needs. Reviewers look for: • Broad-based involvement of university stakeholders • A focused topic, centered on student learning • Institutional capacity, including sufficient budgetary, material, and human resources • A thorough assessment plan

  5. How were the proposed themes developed? In February 2012, the Vision and Quality Enhancement Planning Team began collecting feedback and analyzing university data: • Multiple surveys, open forums, focus groups, and a town hall meeting were used to collect feedback • Participants included GC faculty, staff, and students, as well as local community members, GC Alumni Board and GC Foundation Board members • GC institutional data: HERI, CLA, NSSE, MAP-Works, CIRP In Fall 2012, the Topic Selection Task Force analyzed such data with a view toward common themes that could impact student learning outcomes.
