  7. Review • Hitler’s hope was to have his “super race” by creating genes that were recessive, which he considered to be “pure”. Explain why he felt that the use recessive was “pure?” • If a dad has blonde (bb) & blue eyes (gg) and mom also has blonde hair & blue eyes then the only choice is blonde hair & blue eyes (bbgg). What is the easy way to determine if mom had an illegitimate child? • Answer – if the child has brown hair. Meaning it is easier to control thus must be superior.

  8. Review • You are a Genetic Counselor and you are advising a young couple. Mom has blonde hair and blue eyes. She asks what is the significance. You start to explain recessive versus dominant and incomplete dominance. • Mom then proceeds to ask what are the chances her child could also be blonde hair & blue eyed. Dad enters the room and you notice his brown hair and green eyes. You repeat explain about recessive and dominant genes as well as genotype versus phenotype. What are dad’s possible genotypes?
