As societies evolved, each one invented its own numbering and measuring system for trade, taxation, and land measurement. As the world became smaller and international trade increased, the need for a standard worldwide system of measurement became obvious. Efforts toward making an international system of measurement began in the 1790s.
International System of Units is a network that links all systems of weights and measures, metric and non-metric maintained by small agency in Paris called the SI, using the French name System International.
Why do we use the SI measurement system in science? Well…Let’s compare the Imperial system of measurement and the SI system of measurement?
First let’s look at the imperial system.
