  1. What are Ethics? • A system of moral principles • Right vswrong • Moral duties and obligations so that our behavior at work or home is right, truthful, and just • Duty and judgment in a situation

  2. Business Ethics • Study of just and unjust behavior in business • Require that judgment be made about a proposed act and the anticipated consequences of that act • All individuals need to be socially responsible for conduct and focused on what is right

  3. Good Ethics Shown At Work • Regularity and punctuality – being at work and being on time • Confidentiality – keeping private information private • Loyalty – not giving business information to other businesses • Maintain cordial workplace relationships • Willingness to learn and take on new responsibilities

  4. Bad Ethics Shown at Work or School • Irregular attendance and lack punctuality • Rude and impolite • Inadequate knowledge and skill • Waste resources • Disregard rules and regulations • Disrespect for the job • Disloyal

  5. Why are Ethics at School and Work so Important? • Achieve goals and objectives • To be efficient • To use resources appropriately • To maintain discipline • Good environment where all people can enjoy each other’s support

  14. Questions you might ask yourself to decide if you are making the right choice: • Is it just, balanced, and fair? • How will it make me feel about myself? • Does this choice lead to the greatest good for the greatest number? • Would I do this in front of my mother?

  15. Write the Pros and Cons • Sometimes a list you can see will help you figure out a choice without the emotions you are feeling about a decision
