This proposal outlines a generic solution for countries to establish national nodes of the Biosafety Clearing House (BCH). CURRENT SITUATION • Many countries would like a national node of the BCH. • Countries may have the IT/IM capacity to securely host applications. • Countries do not have the resources or time to develop the necessary applications.
POTENTIAL SOLUTION • Generic system for creating national nodes. • Based on applications developed for CNBCH. • CNBCH developed with scalability, reuse and capacity development in mind. • Incremental work needed to make it generic. • Canada offering generic applications for national BCH nodes through UNEP-GEF project.

CONTENT MANAGEMENT • Records published to Web site with Web service. • Can be used with any entry tool (Canadian, Management Centre, US or Swiss). • Web service supports add, update & delete functions. • Documents digitally signed.
