2. Chuck Yeager • *Chuck Yeager was born on February 13,1923 in Myra, West Virginia. • *He was one of the first American pilots to fly a MIG-15 after it’s pilot defected to South Korea with it due to operation Moolah. • *On March 1st 1975 after some assignments in Europe Yeager decided his time was up and he retired. • *After Yeager Retired, he got a total of 15 medals including the WWII victory medal.

3. Ruby Bridges 1.Ruby bridges was born September 8,1954. 2. first African American to go to an all white school. 3. she stopped a couple blocks before school and prayed. 4.She wrote a book called through my eyes . 5.Ruby was the only one in her class.

4. Jonas Salk He was October28, 1914 in New York city U.S. He Died on June 23,1995. He was the first American physician and medical researcher who developed the first safe and effective vaccine for polio. Salk received his M.D.in 1939 from New York University College of Medicine. Salk joined Francis in1942 at the University of Michigan School Public Health and became a part of a group that was working to develop an immunization against influenza.

Clara Barton • Was born Christmas Day 1821, in Oxford, Massachusetts. • Established the first free school in New Jersey. • Was the first woman to work in the U.S. Government Patent Office. • because of her efforts to help during the Civil War she was awarded the Iron Cross of Merit, by the German Emperor. • Founded the American Branch of the Red Cross. • She resigned from the organization in 1904.

6. Alan B. Sheppard, Jr. Born Nov. 18, 1923 Died June 21, 1998 First American in space Put American flag on the moon Played golf on the moon In Florida Astronaut Hall of Fame Awarded two NASA Distinguished Service Medals

8. wasssss Winston Churchill • Sir Winston Churchill was a famous politician. • He was a member of Parliament for more than 60 years. • He received the Nobel Prize for Literature in 1953. • He is known as the greatest British person of all times.

9. Dian Fossey • Dian Fossey was an American zoologist who study gorillas. • She studied them for 18 yrs. • She hated tourist because they would make the gorillas sick.

10. Paul Revere • -Paul Revere warned Boston that the British were coming • Billy Dawes also warned the people of Boston that the British • Paul Revere was captured and detained briefly by British solders • Paul Revere was accompanied by two other men on his ride

13. Sandra Day O'Connor • First woman on the Supreme Court. • Born on march 26,1930. • Awarded the presidential medal of freedom.

14. John J. Pershing • John J. Pershing was on born September 13, 1860. • Pershing became a cadet, the highest rank possible in the army. • He fought with 10th Cavalry on Kettle and San Juan Hill in Cuba and cited for gallantry.

15. Albert Schweitzer In 1928, he won the Goethe Prize. In 1952, he won the Nobel Peace Prize. He played the Organ.

16. Kim Yuna Kim Yuna claimed two golden medals in a row. She got the highest score in Tango de Roxannce (71.95). She is known as “Queen on Ice”. She is a national skating icon in Korea. She earned two extra points in her triple flip-triple toe loop combination in three events in a row Kim set a world record,133.70 points for the ladies long program.

Margaret Bourke-White :Margaret was known as the first foreign photographer. :She was the first woman to be allowed to work in combat zones during World War 2 :Her photography began when she was a young woman. :In 1929,she accepted a job as a associate editor and staff photographer of Fortune Magazine. :Her photographs of the construction of the Fort Peck Dam were featured in Life’s issue && including the cover.

Barbara McClintock • Barbara McClintock was born in Hartford Connecticut, June 16,1920 and died September 2,1992 • Her Secondary Education was in Erasmus Hall High School Brooklyn, New York. • Honorary Doctor of Science Awards in University of Rochester. • And in 1983 Barbara McClintock won a Nobel laureate Physiology or medicine award.

20. Carl Sandburg • Born in Galesburg, Illinois in 1878 • Won three Pulitzer prizes for his writing and poetry • Two of my homes were considered memorials when I died • Died in Galesburg, Illinois in 1967

21. Chief Wilma Mankiller • Wilma was born in November 18,1945. But she died in April 6, 2010 at age 64 of pancreatic cancer. • Her family name “Mankiller” as far as they can determine is an old military title that was given to the person in charge of protecting the village. • She was freely elected in 1987, and again in 1991 in a landslide victory . • Wilma Mankiller was the first female chief of the Cherokee Nation in modern times. • In 1995, Mankiller chose not to run again cause of her health.

22. Mohanda Ghandi • Born October 2,1869. Died January 30,1948. Died of Got shot three times in the chest. Worked for India Independents. Believed in civil rights.

Corrie Ten Boom 1-She was a Jew 2-She helped Jews that were hiding from the Nazis S.S 3-She gave them food that she got from a church 4-They found her and took her to camps her family died but not her 2 brothers and her. 5-She made a lot of speeches and books about the people she helped while World War II

24. Jacques Cousteau Jacques Cousteau was born on june 11,1910. He died on june 25,1997. He was the most famous undersea explorer in the world. He was the co-inventor of the aqualung in 1943. He also pioneered techniques in underwater photography. He won 3 Oscars for his underwater movies.

Ellen Ochoa • She was born on May 10th,1958 in Los Angeles ,California . • She was Selected by NASA in 1990. • She was the world’s first Hispanic female astronaut in 1991. • She was a doctoral student at Stanford University. • Ochoa was selected by NASA in 1990 and became an astronaut in July 1991.
