  3. Cellix Products and expertise Experience in... • Microfluidic pumping solutions: patented syringe pumps with pulseless flow; pressure pumps; positive displacement; recirculation etc. • Microfluidic biochips with robust macro-to-micro connections; 2D and 3D designs; embedded membranes and electrodes; integration of sensors on-chip; consideration of sample handling/mixing/dilution etc. • Development of cell-based assays ...has placed us in a unique position to offer integration services to our customers.

  4. Example OEM Projects: Commercial outputs from FP7 Customer: Multinational company, revenues of ~ €115M in 2013 Sector: Clinical diagnostics Aim: Develop next generation analyzers for POC market. Purpose: Integrating client’s proven biological immunoassays into microfluidic chip format. Working with them on the development of the microfluidic liquid handling and sample handling automation for their next generation analyzers for POC market. Deal type: R&D contract with heads of terms on exclusive OEM supply agreement. Deal value: Not disclosed Microfluidic liquid handling & protocol development: Sensor area integration on-chip: Tested in client’s existing analyzers for signal read-out (jig for chips 3D printed for simple proof-of-concept tests)

  5. Example OEM Projects: Commercial outputs from FP7 Customer: Multinational company, revenues of ~ €65M in 2013 Aim: Prototype simple, easy-to-use, robust device which may be used by low- level technicians for sample processing. Purpose: Integrating improved impedance spectroscopy methods on-chip to characterize small differences in cellular content. Deal type: R&D contract with heads of terms on licensing agreement. Deal value:R&D contract worth €1M Integrated to perform specific assays for client Cellix’s patented pumps & impedance chips

  6. H2020: SniffPhone Consortium: Co-ordinated by Hossam Haik at Technion University Israel; partners include Siemens. Aim: Smart Phone for Disease Detection from Exhaled Breath Value: €5.8M Cellix’s Contribution: Development & production of miniature pumps & microfluidic integration.

  7. Collaborating with SMEs – some advice • Don’t ask them because you need an SME involved – ask them because you need their expertise. We don’t want to be a “token” SME in a proposal. • Review the SME website but be aware that this may not reveal all... • Don’t expect the SME to write the proposal for you. • Approach them early – at least 3 months before the submission deadline. • Remember, SMEs are in business to make a profit – they will always look for the commercial output from a grant.
