  2. Advanced training SUMMARY • Armonia - WIFI connection to amplifiers and controlling via Armonia - Special cabling for connecting AES3 inputs to the amplifiers - Measuring and creating presets for loudspeakers a) Limiter functions and settings b) FIR/ IIR X-overs c) Smaart? d) Creating a preset. - Creating a cardioid subwoofer pattern with Armonia

  3. Advanced training LIVE! WI-FI connection to amplifiers and controlling via Armonia

  4. 100BaseT LAN AES3-B stream, ch 3-4 AES3-A stream, ch 1-2 KAESOP Network Wiring PORT 1/PORT 2 (IDENTICAL) 1: 100BaseT AutoMDI RX/TX+ 2: 100BaseT AutoMDI RX/TX- 3: 100BaseT AutoMDI TX/RX+ 4: AES3-A RX/TX+ 5: AES3-A RX/TX- 6: 100BaseT AutoMDI TX/RX- 7: AES3-B RX/TX+ 8: AES3-B RX/TX-

  5. KAESOP Network Wiring Connecting AES3 inputs to the amplifiers. a) Thru the rear IN2 XLR (must be push the selector) AES EBU / ANALOG input selector From digital AES3 source

  6. a) Thru the rear IN2 XLR (must be push the selector) Input routing Connecting AES3 inputs to the amplifiers. From digital AES3 source

  7. KAESOP Network Wiring Connecting AES3 inputs to the amplifiers. AND \ OR b) Thru the RJ45 port (patch panel or Y cable needed) 100BaseT LAN AES3-A stream AES3-B stream From Armonia network From digital AES3 source

  8. b) Thru the RJ45 port (patch panel or Y cable needed) Input routing

  9. Measuring and creating presets for loudspeakers. a) Very expensive and advance measurement system and logistic (anechoic chamber) is necessary for make a presets. b) Factory presets is the basics for any custom preset design and warranty. c) …. With a good equipment, growing up experience and lucky we can make a preset from the scratch.

  10. Limiterfunctions and setting. Power limiter Real time monitor Peaklimiter

  11. Power Limiter setting. Power vs Volt or TruePower - Power vs I (only special transducer) Enable Power limiter Power sensing Enable cross limit mode (link the GR) Link Attack & Release time with X Soft-knee

  12. PeakLimiter setting. Enable Peak limiter Link Attack & Release time with X

  13. Displayed information. Headroom Output power Limiter LED Gain reduction meter Gain reduction history *Display calibrated downwards.

  14. …about loudspeaker Power Electromechanical transducers transform a significant amount of power into heat. They can accept different power level according to the time and dynamic of the signal apply. long term > 2 h (AES), better know as RMS  CF < 6 dB Program– Music > 2 h (Recommended amplifier) CF > 6 dB short term < 2 s (peak / IEC268-5) CF > 12 dB Eg. Long term power 500 W AES Program, Music (Recommended amplifier) 1000 W RMS Short term power IEC 268-5 2000 W PEAK

  15. Typical subwoofer specification

  16. Typical loudspeaker specification

  17. Typical bi-amp loudspeaker connection pannel

  18. Typical bi-amp loudspeaker connection diagram

  19. Power Limiter Threshold W • TruePower is the preferred setting to choose when the number of speakers connected to the amplifier channel is known. Powersoft suggest a threshold of 1\3 of the power specification of the loudspeaker Eg. 750 W AES = 250 W • Equivalent power @ 8 Ohm setting all power calculations being based on an arbitrary 8 ohm load (RMS voltage limiter), unknow speaker number.

  20. Peak limiter Threshold V • Powersoft supply a excel file for calculate it (DesignersTool_1.2.5_a.xlsx) or you can use the formula • Eg. 2000 W AES @4 ohm = 152 V NOTE: For veryheavy use (24\7 - CF < 3 dB) I suggest a 1,4 multiplier • Eg. 2000 W AES @4 ohm = 125 V

  27. Two ways loudspeaker3D polar response IIR v\s FIR X-overs Crossover frequency 1630 Hz.

  28. IIR v\s FIR X-overs Pro Full range Higher x-over area and «musicality» Easy to find Cons Minimum speaker protection Phase distortion Pro Higher speaker protection Linear Phase response Cons Latency (only up then 1Khz) Reduced x-over area and «musicality» Not Easy to find

  29. Creating a cardioid subwoofer pattern Pro Full range Higher x-over area and «musicality» Easy to find Cons Minimum speaker protection Phase distortion Pro Higher speaker protection Linear Phase response Cons Latency (only up then 1Khz) Reduced x-over area and «musicality» Not Easy to find
