  3. Why was Ishmael Mocking? He was born as a result of Abraham’s lack of trust. His mother was mistreated by Sarah for 16 years. For 13 years he was treated by Abe as the promised heir. He was the first son of Abraham circumcised. The birth of Isaac brought great joy to Abe and Sarah, but rejection upon Ishmael. Easy to understand his mocking; little brother has stolen his birthright.
