Beginning of KKK • Flourished in December 1865 but died out in early 70s • The KKK was in existence 1865-1870 and had 3 Klan's • A group of 6 men living in the village of Pulaski near Nashville, Tennessee • Decided to relieve their boredom by organizing a social club • Members would disguise themselves w/ a costume made of sheet covers and “conical hats”

KKK • The KKK was basically formed to terrorize blacks • The KKK was against any whites that where up for helping blacks • The first and third incarnations of the Klan have well-established records of engaging in terrorism and political violence, though historians debate whether or not the tactic was supported by the second KKK.
