  2. 1814 Joseph Niepce • Joseph Niepce achieves first photographic image with camera obscurer • However the image needed 8 hours of light exposure and later faded. • When photographers started artists who painted pictures started to lose jobs. First ever picture.

  3. 1838 Louis Daguerre • Louis Daguerre was the first person to take a picture of a person. • Took 10 minutes of light exposure. • Only managed to take the shot because the man was getting his shoes shined. • Capture memories Camera used.

  4. 1851 Frederick Scott archer • Invented the collodion process • Images only required 2 or 3 seconds of light exposure • Pictures became more accurate • They show what has happened in the past which this generation wouldn’t have been able to see. Some of his pictures.

George Eastman • 1884- Eastman invents flexible, paper based photographic film. • 1888- Eastman patents Kodak roll film. • 1936- kodachome first colour film • 1990-made the first mass marketed camera box brownie • made the camera affordable for everyone • 1 dollar. • 1941- Kodak colour negative film • 1954- high speed tri x film

  6. Edwin land • 1948- Edwin land markets the polaroid camera. • 1963- polaroid introduces instant colour film • 1973- introduces one step instant photography with the sx-70 camera.

  7. Why do we use photographs? • Memories • They remind us of our past time • Capture important times that cant be recreated • Weddings, child's first years, party's • Artistic • Make art • Influence people • Hobbies • Give people enjoyment

Facts • Facebook users upload 300 million photos per day! • Claimed that 880 billion photos will be taken in 2014. • 1826 – first photo ever. • By 1930, about a billion photos were taken a year. • By 1970, about 10 billion photos were taken a year. • By 1990, about 57 billion photos were taken a year. • By 2000, about 86 billion photos were taken a year. • Today, we take more than 380 billion photos a year.
