2. Goal of the Project • To assist the people of Ukraine to achieve accelerated development and growth of a competitive market-oriented economic system Purposes of the Project • to strengthen Tavrida National University (TNU), Ukraine in its role of producing appropriately trained people needed in Ukraine for the emerging global market • to improve the competitiveness and efficiency of small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) in the Ukrainian region of the Crimea in a market-oriented economy • to enhance the global literacy of Alabama A&M University's faculty, staff and students, particularly that of Ukraine

3. Specific Objectives • To revise or restructure curricula in the area of business and management education covering business economics, business administration, marketing and information systems management, accounting and finance management in the Department of Management at TNU • To establish and conduct Summer Institutes on entrepreneurship and business management / administration in collaboration with TNU as an outreach program of the University for SMEs in the Crimea • To acquire educational materials and establish Internet or e- communication at TNU in support of teaching, research and outreach programs

5. Outline of Main Project Accomplishments • Curricula of two TNU Educational Programs were restructured in cooperation with American counterparts. Totally 33 courses designed for full time students and students of Summer Institute were restructured / developed. • Three Summer Institutes on Entrepreneurship and Business administration were held with total number of students successfully completed training at 119 persons. • Three Workstations, Scanner, Modem, Copier, Overhead Projector, two Printers, One of which combines scanner, copier and fax functions, and other suppliers were procured. Above 1300 instructional materials in Russian, Ukrainian and English were procured. The Project Website was created.

Other Activity and Accomplishments • Faculty Development: • 6TNU faculty members had a possibility to study at AAMU Business School • Totally of 21 faculty members participated in curricula restructuring and development. This is about 44,4 % of total faculty number at Management Department. 34. New Programs and Activity: The Club of Young Manager conducted by students’ self-management under the guidance of NISCUPP Project participant Elena Podsolonko was created. Participants of the Club are Department’s students. Activity of the club is permanent and involves organization and carrying out various kinds of seminars, meetings, and competitions. The concept of scientific research on “Managers Training in 21st Century” at the faculty for the period 2001 – 2005 is worked out. The scientific research is financially supported by government and officially registered at Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine for each Faculty Chair. Methodological manual on thesis preparation for students (bachelors and specialist level graduate works) in accordance with restructured subjects is developed. The activities of the club, in the form of a series of conferences, were organized and held in English within the framework of restructured courses with students of Management Department (Video Reports mastered on CDs are available). Special Project “X-periment” was organized at the Faculty. The project operates by organizing competitions among Management Faculty students in the fields of management, business, business ethics, economics, etc. Other Activity and Accomplishments (continued)

Other Activity and Accomplishments(continued) • Positive Impacts: • Continuing Education at TNU Management Faculty • A series of Academic Olympiads were instituted and conducted • Creation of new chair “Management of International Business” (September 14, 2001) has drawn specialists in this particular field. • Restructuring of Management Faculty’s chairs was held during years 2001-2002. All courses delivered by faculty members were allocated in accordance with chairs’ directions of activity. • Creation of Specialized Council for Dissertation Defense on the specialty “Entrepreneurship, Management and Marketing” (renamed later as “Economics, Organization and Management of Enterprises”). • The analysis of the structure and effectiveness of entrepreneurship in Crimea was carried out and submitted to the Ukrainian Ministry of Education and Science in the form of a report on The Ways of Restructuring Crimean Economy. The report was delivered at the Annual Meeting of Academy of Economic Sciences of Ukraine in May 2002. Official responses of experts from the Crimean Cabinet of Ministers and the Parliament were quite favorable • The activity such as six lectures delivery (during March 2002) on Principles of e-Commerce MKT 330 by Andrey Martovoy to AAMU Business School students, their homework assessment and exam tests working out were conducted in addition to originally planned objectives and taking into consideration traveler’s background in Internet technologies and web design.

Other Activity and Accomplishments(continued) • Positive Impacts: • State Accreditation of the Specialty of “Management of International Business” based on the newly restructured curriculum under the NISCUPP, was approved by the Accreditation Committee of the Ukrainian Ministry of Education and Science • Vladimir Podsolonko, TNU Project Director, received membership in Council of Entrepreneurs at Council of Ministers of Autonomous Republic of Crimea • Scientific research on developing of theoretical bases of training in entrepreneurship was conducted by Tatiana Mironova and Andrey Protsay; • State research grant on Indicative Planning of Entrepreneurship in Crimea was obtained in December 2001 by Vladimir Podsolonko, Tatiana Mironova and Elena Podsolonko, all NISCUPP Project Faculty Participants • Proposals on entrepreneurship development within Program of Social and Economic Development of Ukraine were developed and presented on public debates in September 2001 in Simferopol by Vladimir Podsolonko

Other Activity and Accomplishments(continued) • Positive Impacts: • The agreement was signed with the Center of Educational Publishing (that is Project vendor for books procurement), Kiev concerned publishing of books written by TNU Management Faculty members within restructured and newly developed courses. In a results 10 instructional materials were submitted for publishing from September 2002 to May 2003. • Dean of the Faculty Vladimir Podsolonko presented his article titled with “Setting Interrelation among Undergraduate, Continuing and Non-degree Education of Active Managers” at the conference “Problems of Planning of Production in the Conditions of Transition to Market Economy”, October 1-3, 2002 • International Conference “International Cooperation in Education” was held jointly with Crimean State Humanities Institute, April 1-5, 2003, Yalta. TNU Management Faculty presented 8 articles at the Conference. • Department for Training in Entrepreneurship Management at Crimean Union of Manufacturers, Entrepreneurs and Farmers (CUMEF) was established under the guidance of NISCUPP project participant, Elena Podsolonko. The purpose of the Department is training and retraining of managers in management skills required in the conditions of market economy and in accordance with European standards. The purpose is being accomplished with joint French and Crimean educational experience.
