Laboratory Notebook • Save pages in the beginning for table of contents • Write down EVERYTHING (even brainstorming ideas)—think of it like a diary/journal • Record all data/descriptions, procedures, materials…EVERYHTING • Must be in blue or black ink • No tearing out pages!
Make Multiple Copies Copies of all approved forms must be presented at the Science Engineering Fair of Houston when the project is inspected by the SRC and must be maintained in a binder or folder for review on request by any judge or fair official during the fair. In addition, copies (not the originals) of all approved forms must also be attached to the SEFH project entry form.

SEFH Deadlines • Friday, November 1, 2013 Application deadline to the Scientific Review Committee (SRC) for projects which involve either Vertebrate Animals, Recombinant DNA, Tissues, Microorganisms. Applications must be received (not postmarked) by the SRC on this date—TURN IN MRS. REHM ASAP! • Friday, December 6, 2013 Final revised copies of all SRC approval forms must be received by an appropriate member of the SRC by this date. • Monday, January 6, 2014 Poster Design Contest entry deadline. Entries must be received at the SEFH Office by this date.
SEFH Deadlines • Friday, January 31, 2014 Science Writing Contest entry deadline. Entries must be received at the SEFH Office by this date. Project entry deadline. All project entry forms and fees must be received by Houston ISD prior to being submitted to the SEFH Office by this date. Faxed copies are not acceptable. NOTE: A copy (not the original) of each approval form required for a particular project must be stapled to the entry form for that project.
