1 – Describe your favorite childhood item My toy kitchen was the coolest. I would play with it for hours. My mom said it was all broken by the time we got rid of it. When I was little, I had huge dreams of being a great cook just like my mom. I had a little toy kitchen that was just my size. My kitchen included an oven, a stove top and a tiny little fridge compartment. It came with plastic food that I could “practice” cooking with. I would pretend to go grocery shopping then put the food away. There are many fond memories of time spent in the kitchen.
2 – A Stressful moment We landed in New York. The airline had screwed up our reservations. Wow, that airport was huge. We were almost home. We spent the day flying over the Atlantic Ocean; a follow up to having been bumped from our scheduled flight the day before. Because we had been bumped, we had to find the airline check in counter to get our seat assignments for this last flight. The airport was huge, and there didn’t seem to be any signs the indicated where to go. After wandering for what seemed like an hour, we eventually asked a limo driver where that particular counter was. It was tucked into a little corner all by itself. We weren’t done yet though. They had seats for three of us, but said my son would have to fly stand by. There was no way I was going to leave my 14 year old son in New York by himself! Finally, a stranger volunteered to be bumped and our family was all seated on the way home.
3 – What are the effects of poor grades on others? My getting bad grades doesn’t hurt anyone. My grades are not even a reflection of how smart I am. It doesn’t matter how I do in the 7th grade; what really mattes is college. Poor grades nationally make a difference in many different ways. So many students believe that college is inevitable, but the truth is, colleges base their admissions on ACT or SAT test scores and a particular student’s g.p.a. They don’t have to accept a student who did poorly in the previous level. High schools are judged and ranked by the level of education they provide. Some universities will not accept students that go to a high school that is not ranked well. Students who don’t do their best drag the ranking of their school down affecting entrance possibilities of all their classmates. Every student’s effort is added together to get a whole. Students who don’t do well in pre college course work often end up dropping out of college because they are not up to the harder classes. The effects of poor grades can be much further reaching than a single student understands.
4 – Compare and contrast 2 kinds of shoes What is the point of shoes? I have dozens of kinds of shoes. The high tops I got for my birthday are my favorite pair because they are the most comfortable. I would be just as happy though if I could go bare foot all the time. Shoes have evolved over the years from large leafs or skins wrapped and tied with vines to $1000 tennis shoes that guarantee the ability to jump like a pro basketball player. The different types of shoes each serve a purpose. Slippers are comfortable, but don’t provide any protection from sharp objects. High heels are uncomfortable, but do awesome things for a lady’s legs. Certain types of walking shoes will help shape the calf and thigh muscles, but are not necessarily safe for other athletic activities. Probably the most all around useful shoe would have to be the tennis shoe. Tennis shoes can be worn on many job sites; students wear them to school; athletes wear them for training. Choosing the correct type of shoe for the activity is more important than what it looks like.
