Time to Write! • Option #1: create a raven-style poem on your own topic. Use the one assigned to you for the sonnet, switch topics with someone, or come up with your own. • Option #2: mimic the style of “The Raven” and create at least 2 stanzas that could seamlessly fit into Poe’s original poem. • BOTH OPTIONS must follow the syllables & rhyme scheme format!

Poem Analysis Time • First, we’ll listen to the poem. • The poem, “Snake,” is on Page 198. • Next, we’ll complete a Poetry Analysis Sheet: you will discuss theme, tone, poetic devices, rhyme scheme, summary, and your own perspective.
Poetry Review • Take out your flashcards. • We will look at a poem and find each poetic device in the writing.(We will do this 2x!) • IF they are non-existent, make a LIST somewhere on the page of the poem.
