  1. Welcome to  Spring Semester 2009 Or, “It's a Trap!”

  2. So, who runs this place anyway? Well, it used to be this guy...

  3. Brady – The New Guy • Chemistry Grad Student • Likes cooking, playing video games, and spending time with his fiancee <3 • Favorite Anime: Fate/Stay Night; Ranma ½; Hellsing. Kelly – Librarian of Win • Graphic Design Major. • Gets you anime from the library. • Favorite Anime: Yami no Matsuei; Ouran High School Host Club; Gundam SEED; Lucky * Star.

  4. Matt – Holder of the Monies • Uses your membership fees for the power of good and righteousness! • Favorite Anime: Gankutsuou; Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex; Twelve Kingdoms; The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya; Nodame Cantabile; Utena. Alex – MAS Secretary • Keeps notes at meetings. Makes sure we remember to have meetings. • Accounting Major. • Favorite Anime: Rurouni Kenshin; Death Note; Code Geass; Ouran High School Host Club.

  5. We NEED You. Yes, you. • We are in the market for at least three new MAS admin! • To remain an official U of MN club, we need five people to sign the U of MN club form, and soon we'll be down to only two. • We need volunteers! If you don't come forward, MAS may not exist next year :( • You just need to be a current U student who wants to help plan the future of MAS. Or, at the very least, you need to be able to physically sign a few things.

So What Else do we do Here? • Social Events! • SBAM – The Thursday of Spring Break, 10am to 10pm. • We haven't planned the others yet, so you should come to our planning meetings (and then become an admin!)‏ As for planning meetings – we'll announce them so that you can come and be administrategical with us. (This is what usually happens at meetings)‏

  10. Other Fun Stuff we Do • The MAS Valentine's Day Special • Thursday, February 12th • Join us for fun games, treats, and possibly some lovey-dovey anime (though probably not Inu-Yasha. You're welcome.)‏

  11. The Craptacular! • Our end-of-the-semester extravaganza of bad dubs or just plain wrongness in anime. Feel free to heckle! • The Thursday during Finals Week. “Shutup, guys! It's my favorite show EVAR and it's so deep and intricate, you don't even know!”

  12. MAS on the Intarwebs • We've got a totally sweet website where you can go for club news, updates, and information. There are also member contributions of fan art and fan fiction, as well as a calendar of events. • http://www.mangaanimesociety.org • And Don't forget the MAS Livejournal community (if you have a Livejournal, you should join and post there, you know, so there are actually posts there): http://community.livejournal.com/mas_at_lj/profile Remember to sign up for the mailing list! There's a link to it on the MAS main page. We'll email you updates periodically.

  13. One of us! One of us! • So, what are the benefits to becoming a full-fledged MAS member? • Free food at all social nights. Gotta love the cheesy poofs! • Access to the MAS Library (it's free and full of DVDs and manga!)‏ • The ability to vote for future showings using Votaku (the most important bonus)‏ • Super-shiny card of epic win • Membership is only $6, and the cutoff is February 19th (maybe later if Jessi is feeling generous), so don't delay!

  14. Yes, I know there are only a few cards this time. You try finding high-res art for these shows! I totally had to shoop some of these together. I can has membership cards?

  15. The First Rule of Anime Club • Please don't talk or laugh rudely during the showings. You might think those two bishies are totally yaoi for each-other, but not everyone does. • Seriously, just respect the showings, since members voted on them and want to watch them. If you can't keep quiet, we might have to come up with some horrible punishment, like the Chicken Suit.

  18. GTFO! (after the showings are done)‏ • When the shows are over, you have to leave in a timely manner or the U will charge us a fine D: • Please leave quickly and orderly at the end of the night, and clean up after yourself! • Remember, an admin has to be the last person out of the room, so the sooner you leave, the sooner he or she can get home and go to bed.
