LETS GO BACK IN HISTORY 1700 B.C.E. Abraham, Isaac, Jacob, patriarchs of Jewish people, settle in Israel. Famine drives Israelites to Egypt. 1300 B.C.E. Mosses leads Jews back to Israel. 1000 B.C.E. King David names Jerusalem the capital. Firm military borders of country very similar to today’s borders. 586 B.C.E. Babylonian conquest. Jews exiled for about 50 years but return under Persian rule. 332 B.C.E. Large Jewish population welcomes Alexander the Great. 142 B.C.E. Jewish autonomy established under Maccabees; Jerusalem is again Jewish capital. 63 B.C .E.–313 Roman rule. Millions of Jews live, worship in Judea and Jerusalem. 614-629 Persians and Byzantines rule. Jews live in Israel. 636-1099 Arab conquest: Arabs ruled first from Damascus, then Baghdad, then Egypt. Arabs never ruled from Jerusalem. 1099-1516 Crusaders, Muslims, Mamlukes fight for control. Jewish community in Jerusalem throughout. 1516-1917 Ottoman Turks rule from Istanbul. 30,000 Jews in Safed by 1600; Jewish villages throughout country.
MODERN HISTORY 1880 Jerusalem has outright Jewish majority. 1917 British and allies defeat Ottomans in WWI. “Balfour Declaration” rewards Jewish war efforts with declaration of Jewish homeland in what is today Jordan and Israel. 1923 “Mandate for Palestine” creates an independent Palestinian Arab state called Jordan.
UN Partition Plan: Arabs refuse and declare war. Egypt seizes Gaza, Jordan seizes what is called its “West Bank.” Israel admitted to UN as 59th member. Jewish State Arab State 14 May 1948 the State of Israel was proclaimed according to the UN partition plan (1947)
24 Hours later The regular armies of Egypt, Jordan, Syria, Lebanon and Iraq invaded the country and launched a war of annihilation against the State of Israel. Their purpose was not to establish an independent Palestine. Their aim was to partition western Palestine amongst themselves. The “Independence War” last 15 months and claimed over 6,000 Israeli lives (nearly one percent of the country’s Jewish population at that time).
1949 Five decades of Arab terrorism is launched; before “occupation.”
Egypt, Syria and Jordan launch attacks against Israel from Sinai. Israel captures Sinai and Gaza; returns lands in hopes of securing peace and promise of free navigation for Israeli commerce. Area Captured by Israel (1956) and Returned (1957) 1956 - Suez War
1964 - Palestine Liberation Organization While Jordan and Egypt hold the "territories," the PLO forms with the goal of annihilating the State of Israel through violence and terror. In the ensuing years, a rash of airplane hijackings, bombings and the Munich Olympic Massacre bring the Palestinians media attention.
1967 - Six Day War Arab armies surround Israel, declare intention to destroy her. After 6 days of war, Israel captures West Bank, Gaza, Sinai, Golan Heights and Jerusalem. Israel immediately offers to return the conquered land in exchange for peace. Meeting in Khartoum, the Arab League issues the infamous three NOes: "No peace with Israel. No negotiations with Israel. No recognition of Israel."
1973 - Yom Kippur War On the holiest day of the Jewish year, Egypt and Syria launch a surprise attack. In the Golan, 180 Israeli tanks face an onslaught of 1,400 Syrian tanks. Along the Suez Canal, 500 Israeli soldiers are attacked by 80,000 Egyptians. Israel suffers heavy casualties, but wins the war. After three weeks, Israelis cross into Egypt and Syria. Israel withdraws in hopes of securing peace.
1978 - Camp David Accords Israel agrees to return the entire Sinai Peninsula - constituting 80 percent of Israel's land mass - in exchange for normalization of relations with Egypt. Exchange for permanent peace. Israel wants peace.
1993 - Oslo Accords Following a historic handshake between Yitzhak Rabin and Yasser Arafat on the White House lawn, the Oslo accords call for Israeli recognition of the PLO, and a Palestinian commitment to cease violence and terror. All throughout the 1990’s Israel grants Palestinians rule over 98% of Arab population.
2000 Israeli Prime Minister Ehud Barak offers over 97 percent of the territories, including eastern Jerusalem, for the creation of a Palestinian state. Yasser Arafat refuses, and Palestinians launch thousands of violent attacks against Israeli targets. Six months after the violence begins, Ariel Sharon comes to power in a landslide victory. WHAT DOES HE WANT ?!
LETS HEAR THEIR LEADER YASSER ARAFAT “We know but one word: Struggle, struggle. Combat, combat. Jihad, Jihad, Jihad.” Jihad is the Arab cry for holy war. A holy war undertaken as a sacred duty to Muslims. "Islam wishes to destroy all States and Governments anywhere on the face of the earth which are opposed to the ideology and program of Islam. Islam requires the earth - not just a portion, but the whole planet." And that God's Law (Shariah) should be enforced in the world "by force of arms." Truth cannot be confined within geographical borders. "The allegiance of a Muslim does not rest on his domicile in the country which is his, but on the faith to which he belongs ... wherever there is the rule of Islam, there is his own country." - S.A.A. Maududi "Jihad in Islam", Lahore, 1991
ANSWER THESE QUESTIONS DO THEY REALLY WANT TO LIVE SIDE BY SIDE WITH THE JEWS IN PEACE? IS ISRAEL NOT WILLING TO GIVE UP LANDS FOR PEACE? ARE THE ARABS REALLY THE OPPRESSED? IS ISRAEL A SORT OF “GOLIATH”, USING EXCESSIVE FORCE AGAINST STONE-THROWING PALESTINIANS?
THE MUSLIM WORLD COMPARED TO ISRAEL MUSLIM COUNTRY ISRAEL
STONES ONLY? On May 7, 2001, Israeli patrols discovered a vessel loaded with weaponry bound for a PA-controlled port. Furthermore, it was discovered that this was at least the third time that particular vessel had made a weapons drop in the area. Under the Oslo accords, the PA is forbidden to have mortars or rockets.
THE TRUTH IS Israel a “land hungry” and “land grabbing” imperialist “Nazi” regime? Israel comprises 0.3% of the Middle East; or one-third of one percent. Arabs declared war on Israel in 1967. In 1978 Israel gave 80% of the land it conquered to Egypt in return for peace. December 23, 2000: Israel backed an offer to Arafat of 100% of Gaza; 95% of the West Bank; the Arab neighborhoods in East Jerusalem; and $30 billion in international aid to help resettle refugees. Jan. 2, 2001: Arafat rejected the offer.
Every government in the world has the right to defend it’s citizens.
