HISTORY • Population of about 2,000 • Dingle has supported various tribes and populations for almost 6,000 years • Over 2,000 remarkably preserved monuments • Much of the peninsula is a Gaeltacht or an area where the Irish language (Gaeilge or Gaelainn) is widely spoken in the home, workplace or school

GEOGRAPHICS • The Dingle Peninsulastretches 30 miles into the Atlantic Ocean from Ireland's south-west coast. • The peninsula is dominated by arange of mountains, running from the Slieve Mish range to Mount Brandon, Ireland's second highest peak. • There are sandy beaches safe for swimming, walking routes for all abilities, a thriving Irish language community, a rich musical tradition, fine dining, sea angling, arts and film festivals, talented craftspersons and some of the best surfing in Ireland

  5. ATTRACTIONS FOR VISITORS • Oceanworld Aquarium • Fungie, The Dingle Dolphin • Dunbeg Fort • CorcaDhuibhne Museum • Louis Mulcahy Pottery • Dingle Brewing Company • Archaeological Sites • The Great Blasket Since 1984 a common bottlenose dolphin has frequented the Dingle harbor area.
