  1. CHAPTER 8 OTHER ROAD USERS (Sharing the road with others)

  2. Pedestrians • Pedestrians are present at all times • Look for signs to mark school zones, bus stops, playgrounds, parks, and other places people might be. • Watch for movement around parked cars.

  3. Failure to Yield to Pedestrians: • Resulting in Injury: • Up to $500 fine • Up to 25 days in jail.

  5. Visually Challenged Persons • Have a white or metallic walking stick, or are accompanied by a guard dog • They always have the RIGHT OF WAY

  6. BIKES, SKATEBOARDS AND OTHERS • Bike riders, skateboards and inline skaters have same rights as motorists • You must always yield to them when turning right. • A bike rider may use the left lane to make a left turn at an intersection.

  7.   9. Trucks, Tractor-Trailers, and Buses • When passing, remember there are several no-zones where the truck driver cannot see you. Truck Smart Module 1: "No-Zones" (Blind Spots) - YouTube • During adverse weather conditions, a truck can take as much as 25% longer to stop than usual.

  10. Yielding to Buses • You must yield to any bus or school bus that is re-entering traffic after making a stop. • Once they are back with the flow of traffic, you do not have to yield with them changing lanes.

  11. REAR NO-ZONE – 200 ft behind truck. Do not tailgate!! FRONT NO-ZONE – 10-20 ft infront of truck. Video SIDE NO-ZONES – do not stay next to a truck in the blind zone. (next to driver cabin) They cannot see you in they change lanes. TRUCK NO-ZONES
