  12. First: send your email request • Dear Teachers,It's time to start planning for the placement of Teacher Cadets from Dutch Fork High School for their two-month Field Experience which will begin in late February and conclude the at spring break. Having a Teacher Cadet is a little like having a student teacher, although the Cadet will only be with you every other day during the time he or she would be in my class. This year I have two classes - one is from 8-9:30 and the other is during lunch, so the time is longer - 11:45 - 2:00. During that later time, though, the Cadets will need to get lunch, so that time is a little flexible. The Cadets will begin with some observation, but by the end of their first week they should be actively participating in something in your class or working one-on-one with children. Their goal is to be doing some whole-class teaching by the end of their field experience. They have spent an entire semester learning about everything from learning styles to special education to ed psych, so they will be ready for you.I have 48 Cadets to place, and therefore will need at least twice that many volunteers. Some Cadets will want special areas or a particular teacher or school, and you may have a student in mind, too. An important thing to remember is that you may not have a Cadet who is related to you, has a sibling or relative in your class. You will need to be able to evaluate these students without pressure of outside-of-school relationships. If you would be willing to host a Cadet. please DO NOT REPLY TO THIS EMAIL but click on the link below. That will take to a very quick survey where you will put your name and choose your school and simply say what you teach during the times students are available. On behalf of the wonderful high school seniors who are eager to enter our profession, I thank you.CLICK HERE ---Hosting a DFHS Teacher Cadet this spring LINK-
