Use of Design Methods • Mistakes are easily made on paper • Computer templates are often used, although there are problems sometimes with programs • Only as good as the imputs • Must understand the assumptions of the model • Excellent model to predict H20 Removal • Ambient temp • Temp of inside dryer • Humidity • Moisture of grain • Btu of dryer • Design of fan

  4. Principles of Drying Why dry your Grain?? • Combine sooner • Less loss of grain in the field • Maintain grain qualitiy • Less machine damage to grain • Allows you to “schedule” or plan harvest • Allows you to get a “double” crop sooner
