[vwhy "The book of Joshua is one of the Bible's greatest testimonies to the mighty acts of God on behalf of Israel. It reports how the Lord gave Israel the land of Canaan (ch 1-12) and allotted it as an inheritance (ch 13-19), to fulfill the promises made to Abraham (Genesis 12:7 and 15:12-16). This story, along with the book's concluding call to faithfulness (ch 23-24), is pivotal to the theology and literature of the Old Testament." --from Joshua, by Jerome F.D. Creach
