How is the Facility Run • Must be 4 staff members at all times • Desk manager • Answers phones • Monitors all patient heart rates • Someone on the floor • Doctor available at all times
Typical Day • 12 patients per hour • 90% of the patients are elderly • Youngest patient seen was 18 • Monitor heart rate for all the patients • Interact with patients • Paperwork • Constant contact with patient cardiologists
Pros/Cons • Pros: Interacting with patients • Develop a relationship • Rewarding • Cons: Paperwork • Sitting behind desk can be hectic
PVC’s Different Protocols • PVC: Premature Ventricular Contractions • Irregular heart beat • Concern • Must not alarm patients when this occurs • Stop patient if more than 3 occur in a row • Contact cardiologist
Program • Rehab for strengthening heart & lungs • Cardiac Rehab is prescribed for patients recovering • Hear Attack • Open Heart Bypass • Heart Transplant • Peripheral • Stable Angina • Angioplasty/Stent
Phase 1 • Patients that is still in the hospital recovering from surgery • 3 days a week and closely monitored
Phase 2 • Outpatient program for patients who have been released from the hospital • 2 days a week and monitored but not closely, offered Monday, Wednesday and Friday
Phase 3 • Affordable self-pay maintenance program for graduates. • Not monitored and offered on Tuesday, Thursday, and Saturday
Certifications CPR recommended ACSM cert. preferred Important to know how to use defiblirator Know how to adminster O2
