What is MID? • Computer peripheral unit • Input device (keys, MCR) • Output device (LCD) • Input/Output device (ICCR)
MID is composed of • One master module • Communicates with PC • And with all rest slave modules • And one or more Slave modules • Controlls its unit • Detects pressed keys and sends this information toward PC • Gets the command from master module what to display on LCD and executes the command • Up to 14 modules could be connected • Internal modules (red connectors + 6 pin flat cabels) • Externa modules (special external cable– up to 1,2 m)
How to assemble MID 2 • Not more than 256 keys all together • Even MCR, iButton, Keylock have virtual keys and these keys are also includein in this 256 array • Keyboard information • In MIDWIN/MIDDOS with the command Keyboard->Info • Shows the composition (which moduls) and • Chip versions (very useful when troubleshooting)
MID is programmable 1 • Advantages • One key substitutes sequence or combination of keys • Mouse is not needed • Higher entering speed • No need for teaching of operators • What is programmable by special modules (MCR, iButton, …) • Header in Terminator • Kbd-pc: header – content of the card - terminator • Sistem can distinguish between other keys and card • Working mode
MID is programmable 2 • The settings are stored in Master module • Slave module sends just the information which key has been pressed • The content stays when it is programmed • It can be reprogrammed • Can be programmed at one place (e.g. Tipro) and used at another place or computer • Memory size is 8KB, what represents aprox. 3000 characters (depends on content, configuration, …)
MID is programmable 3 • Special program, called Download softver • MIDDOS and MIDWIN
Use of MID 2 • POS (Point Of Sale) environment • Ene key represents one item • Gastronomy • Shops • Kiosks • Movie centers • Industry • Industrial printers • Machine control • Telephone exchange
Use of MID 3 • Special office applications • AutoCAD • Manager programs • Bookkeeping
Use of MID 4 • Everywhere • Where not many commands are needed • Where is risk to make mistake • Where fast and easy entry is essential
Description of modules 1 • Master module • Different versions • AT/PS2 outputand AT/PS2 input for standard keyboard (also called secondary kbd.) • AT/PS2 & RS232 outputs and AT/PS2 input for standard keyboard • AT/PS2 & RS232 outputs, AT/PS2 input for standard keyboard and RS232 input for external barcode scanner • Additional connector for external modules (special cabel; up to 1,2 m)
Description of modules2 • Key moduls • Just keys • XY matrixes or combination with alphanumerical part (PM and QM) • Every key • Represents one item • Substitutes key combination • Substitutes mouse
Description of modules3 • Key modules (cont.) • With keylock • Some functions can be restricted with keys • With identification key (iButton) • Identification of the operator • Restaurants, where many waiters works on the same POS system • With LCD • internal (2x20 or. 2x16 (modul 32)) • External 4x40 (later 2x20 with large fonts) • Kombinations • Omron modules (foil protected)
Description of modules4 • Card readers • Magnetnic cards (MCR) • Credit and debit cards • Loyalty cards • Identification • Bar code cards (BCR) • Identification • Smart cards (ICCR) • High level of protection • PIN protected • Credit card in FR and GB • Electronic purse
Description of modules5 • External modules • 3rd connector on the master modul (variants MxxxC) • Card readers and KM032A • Extendable with other modules • PIN entry modules
Description of modules6 • Connection of external bar code scanner • barcode scanner – Metrologic, Symbol, … • PS2 scanner is connected as standard secondary keyboard - MID only forwards codes • RS232 scanner is connected to special master(variants MR0Bx) • MID collects scanner data and transmits them toward PC • AT/PS2 or RS232 output
PC computer PC KBD MID Master module Module 1 Module 14 Module 2 PC keyboard Connection to the PC 1 • AT/PS2 only • MID is above all input device • Data capturing is very well supported • MID could be composed also of output modules (LCD, ICCR); in this case data transmition rate is lower
Connection to the PC 2 • AT/PS2 and RS232 • Input and output modules • Both communication channels could be used simultaneously
Connection to the PC 3 • RS232 only • Device without AT/PS2 port • Additional power supply
