  2. 1 ¿Qué me importan del mundo las penas y doblada tener la cerviz? ¿Qué me importa sufrir en cadenas si me espera una patria feliz? Resignado, tranquilo y dichoso, de la aurora vislumbro la luz; mis prisiones las llevo gozoso por Jesús, quien venció en la cruz.

  3. 2 Aunque preso, las horas se vuelan en gratísimo y santo solaz: con la Biblia mis males se ausentan, pues de darme la dicha es capaz. ¡Libro santo!, mi estancia ilumina; nunca, nunca te apartes de mí; contemplando tu bella doctrina, no hay males ni penas aquí.

  4. 3 ¡Evangelio sublime preciado! ¡Bello pacto de amor sin igual! Quiero siempre tenerte a mi lado, refulgiendo cual puro fanal. Aun en valle de muerte, oscuro, el que acude a los pies del Señor hallará su consuelo seguro en el bello Evangelio de amor.
