GOALS AND AIMS • 1. Create a professional goaltending culture in Stavanger • 2. Educate the goalies/coaches towards modern goaltending • 3. Develop and integrate team/ goalie practicing together • 4. Develop young goalies to play in Oilers within 3 years • 5. Gain national team goalies from Stavanger in 3 years • 6. Build up a solid goaltending “team” that represents the goalie development in Stavanger • 7. Create the interest towards hockey in Stavanger
VALUES AND RULES • VALUES: • 1. Respect and team work! • 2. Professionalism -> nutrition, clothing, warm ups.... • 3. Hard working attitude -> never give up! • 4. Discipline and demanding (coaches <-> players) • RULES: • 1. Inform the coach 24h before if absent (sms:players) • 2. Take responsibility (equipment, waterbottle etc.) • 3. Be on time! (warm up 45 min before ice sessions) • * Special Goalie Warm up & Strenght program in the appendix
PRACTICAL CONCEPT (Sam Liebkind is in charge of presented) • 1. Goalie ice session once a week (All goalies+coaches) • 2. Coaches educational program/meetings 3 times pr season • 3. Team training follow up (3 teams(rotates) per week) • 4. Special goalie Off Ice or/and lecture (1 time per month) • 5. Weekend camps in Stavanger (2 times pr season) • * More info of the camps later! (1-2.12, 23-24.2.08) • 6. Goalie Web sides under Viking/Siddis hockey web sides
STAVANGER GOALIE PROFILE • 1. Professional athlete attitude (warm ups, clothing....) • 2. Energetic and hard working style and posture • 3. Variety in techniques (no one style goalies) • 4. Aggressive goaltending (dominating and attacking) • 5. Good skater and ability to move rapidly • 6. 6th player role • 7. Ability to control and follow up the rebounds
TECHNICAL REQUIREMENTS • 1. Skating and moving skills (power skating program) • 2. Basic saving techniques (smoothness) • 3. Rebound control (gloves in fron of the body) • 4. Positioning/angle play (aggressive goaltending) • 5. 6th player role (game reading/understanding, attending and instructing -> tactical playing)
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS • 1. Speed and explosiveness • 2. Body power (especially middle & lower body) • 3. Flexibility and agility • 4. Balance and coordination skills • 5. Reaction skills • 6. Stickhandling skills (upper body power)
Mental requirements • 1. Stress tolerance • 2. Resetting mind after a mistake in the game • 3. Concentration and focus (total game) • 4. Calmness and patience (e.g. 2-0 situations) • 5. Alertness (game reading etc...) • 6. Positive anger (aggressiveness and “Rocky Balboa”) • 7. Self confidence and courage (poke checks etc..)
