Today’s Question: When a mutation occurs in one strand of DNA, can it spread to other strands?
DNA Structure Review: 1. DNA has a double-helix shape 2. The outside pieces are called a “phosphate backbone.” 3. The inside pieces are called “base pairs.” WHAT ARE THE FOUR BASE PAIRS?!?!?!
DNA BASE PAIRS ADENINE and THYMINE GUANINEand CYTOSINE
ASSIGN EACH TABLE GROUP A ROLE: DNA HELICASE (1 person): Responsible for retrieving and unzipping the original strand! DNA POLYMERASE (2 people): Responsible for retrieving new base pairs and creating the complementary (new) strands!
