Learn how to log and view event logs for HP storage systems, including management agent logs, controller events, disk events, and more.
E N D
EVENT LOGS • LOGS • MANAGEMENT AGENT LOGS • CONTROLLER EVENTS • DISK EVENTS • PORT EVENTS • LOOP EVENTS • STORAGE CELL EVENTS • CONTROLLER TERMINATION EVENTS • LAST FAILURE CODES HP – For Internal Use Only
Management Logical Disk (MLD) • Disk Metadata saved on quorum disks on the Initialized Storage System that stores persistent state information • Management Agent Events • Event configuration list • Trap host list • Elements of view list • License list (for all storage systems) • MLD mirrored on Quorum disks • Reads from single quorum disk • Updates to all quorum disks • ~ 33000 Blocks HP – For Internal Use Only
HSV Event Handling and Logs • Events Generated: • State change in hardware • State change in logical element • Procedure completion • Environmental change • Operational failure • SWMA polls Storage System for events HP – For Internal Use Only
MANAGEMENT EVENT POLLING • Events collected and processed every 45 seconds • May impact the HSV Element Manager performance • May make the Management Appliance appear as slow or hung • Ifthe HSV is very busy and the ping to obtain the lock fails, it waits for the next cycle to collect the controller events HP – For Internal Use Only
VIEWING LOG FILES • Viewed from HSV Element Manager • More details from “download more details” • Log files can be downloaded via ‘Get Log File’ button • Management Agent saved as ASCII files • Controller and Termination Event saved as Binary files • Must be decoded by HSVET tool • Must be decoded by HSVET tool HP – For Internal Use Only
Severity: Normal -- informational in nature. A physical disk drive has reported a check condition error. The identity of the physical disk drive is contained in the device field. The Fibre Channel port used to communicate with the physical disk drive is contained in the cerp_id field. The HSV110 controller internal Fibre Channel port number used to communicate with the physical disk drive is contained in the port field. The arbitrated loop physical address of the physical disk drive is contained in the al_pa field. If the bay field contains a value other than zero, the location of the physical disk drive is contained in the rack_num, dencl_num, and bay fields. If the bay field contains a zero, the location of the physical disk drive is unknown and the content of the rack_num and dencl_num fields is undefined. The rack_num field will not be valid until a future release. The Fibre Channel Exchange Descriptor class is contained in the fed_class field. The command issued to the physical disk drive is contained in the cmd field. The sense data obtained from the physical disk drive as a result of the check condition error is contained in the error field. EIP09 - Fibre Channel Services Physical Disk Drive/Mirror Port Error An error was encountered while attempting to access a physical disk drive or the mirror port.
