Quality Promotion at UCC... • Quality Promotion Unit (QPU) established to facilitate the implementation of Quality Improvement and Quality Assurance • Primary aim of QPU and its activities is to assist the University in the establishment of a quality culture in all activities • Established by the Governing Body of UCC in 1999 • Director was appointed with 1 administrative support staff • Director: Senior member of Academic staff with experience of working with all areas of the University 5

Current Activities INSTITUTIONAL ASSESSMENT OF UNIVERSITIES WITH THE EFQM: THE SELF-ASSESSMENT • Every university could choose to evaluate using EFQM or the TRIS model, justifying the reason for using one or the other model • The time for the accomplishment of this activity was July tillSeptember 2011 12
Current Activities Each University had the external assessment performed by Prof. Norma Ryan (University Cork College, Ireland) during the site visit: 20 Feb 2012 – University of Niš 21 Feb 2012 – University of Kragujevac 22 Feb 2012 – University of Novi Sad During the site visit she checked the improvement actions undertaken through meetings, discussions and review of appropriate documentation 13
Current Activities Each site visit was organized as follows • Meeting with representatives of the coordinating committee • Meeting with representatives of academic staff involved in delivery of programme(s) • Meeting with representatives of administrative and technical/support staff involved in delivery of programme(s) • Meeting with student representatives 14
Future Activities Set up a Western Balkans QA Observatory • Setting up of the Observatory legal status, functioning and memberships requirements • Observatory Web site creation and maintaining • Meeting with local, national and regional stakeholders 15
Future Activities Observatory Web site creation and maintaining • The Observatory will be online and will fall under the responsibility of QAA. • There will be a direct link from the QAA to the Observatory Website. • Each Agency will be in charge of updating the content relevant to its country. • Partner from Ministries will be asked to give advice on the Observatory status and sustainability. 16
