Its products are used by more than 1,400 specialty and general contractors throughout North America. Jonas Construction Software customers work on the go and at remote job sites, which makes it difficult for them to access information in their companies’ financial, business, and project management systems. Also, for many small and midsize contractor firms, implementing an on-premises IT infrastructure to properly support their mobile workforce is often prohibitively expensive. SITUATION: To address this market need, Jonas Construction Software created Jonas Premier, which runs in the Windows Azure public cloud to bring comprehensive accounting, project management, and related functionality to Internet-connected construction contractors. Windows Azure Cloud Services simplify application development, and Windows Azure SQL Database and Blob storage support the solution’s storage and document management needs. Microsoft Silverlight powers user interface elements. SOLUTION: • Using Windows Azure saves 30 percent on labor costs compared with supporting an internal sever environment. • Windows Azure brings Jonas Premier to a large, previously underserved market. • With Windows Azure, Jonas Construction Software is more agile—able to release updates every three weeks, in real time.
