Human and Physical Features To begin with, Barbados has many facts about its human and physical features. As an example, Barbados’ 2001 population estimate is 275,000 people. Those people are expected to live about 73 years. A physical features of Barbados is that it has a total area of 166 square miles. In summary, Barbados has many facts about its people and physical features.
FLAG To begin with, Barbados’ current flag was adopted in 1966 when they gained independence from England. For this reason, there is a broken trident symbolizing Barbados’ independence. Also, the three points of the trident represent the three principles of democracy. The blue stripe on the left represents the blue sea, the blue stripe on the right represents the blue sky and the gold stripe in the middle represents the golden sands of Barbados. In conclusion, Barbados’ flag has a lot of symbolism and history behind it.
Government • Barbados is a parliamentary democracy • Barbados’ legal system is based on the English’s system. • Barbados gained independence from the UK in 1966 • Barbados’ head of government is Prime minister Fruendel Stuart. • Barbados’ capitol is the city Bridgetown.
Religion First of all, Barbados’ main religion is Protestant which is 66.3% of its religions. There are over 2 billion world wide who practice Christianity. In addition, Protestants believe that there is one God and he is part of the Blessed Trinity. Another religion in Barbados is Rastafarian. There are about 1 million Rastafarians world wide. Rastafarian's most popular follower is Bob Marley.To sum up, Barbados’ religions are very interesting.
Animals, Plants & natural resources First of all, Barbados has many interesting plants, animals, and natural recourses. For example, the black-belly sheep which has its leather used by local artists. The Pride of Barbados is Barbados’ national plant and grows between 8-20 feet. A natural recourse of Barbados is petroleum which is formed by prehistoric plants or animals being compacted over millions of years. All in all, Barbados has many interesting plants, animals, and natural recourses.
