Statewide Academic Program Inventory Richard P. Stevens Director, Academic and Student Affairs March 11, 2011 www.flbog.edu
Statewide Academic Program Inventory • Technical challenges remaining to be addressed: • All delivery sectors do not maintain a real time central program inventory from which to automate • All delivery systems are not using the NCES 2010 CIP (Classification of Instructional Programs) to code programs • Branch campus programs will need to be identified • Automating annual updates will require programming and system maintenance • Degree granted data is typically aggregated and reported as main campus, and this is not likely to change • Need to further develop interface design and geographic/ delivery sector mapping
Statewide Academic Program Inventory • Allows sorting by: • Academic program CIP code (2, 4, and 6 digits) • Academic program title • Academic program level (bachelor’s only in prototype) • Institution and institutional accreditation • Delivery system (CIE, FCS, ICUF,SUS) • Enterprise Florida, Inc. Regions • Workforce Florida, Inc. – Local Workforce Board Districts • Separate file for campus locations • K-12 Adult Career Education to be added later
Statewide Academic Program Inventory • When finished it can be used for: • Students seeking programs of study • Industry and business seeking education providers • Economic development planning and industry recruitment • State and local workforce agency education providers • State level and local level education planning • Faculty developing new degree proposals or seeking opportunities for collaboration
