What is Active Directory? • Implementation of LDAP • Used primarily by Windows based operating systems • Provides central authentication services • Stores information and settings in a central, organized, accessible database • Small to Large Networks • Administrators can: • Assign policies • Deploy Software • Apply critical updates
File and Settings Transfer Wizard • Creates an archive of the users profile • Used to migrate profiles • Integrated into Windows XP • Does not add computer to Active Directory
