NCSA Habanero Features • Collaborative framework • Construction supports a wide variety of tools • Cross platform • Any platform that supports the Java Development Kit (JDK) • Windows 95 & NT, Solaris, IRIX, Macintosh, AIX, etc. • Provides routing, synchronization, arbitration • Shared events • Provides sharing of state data • Applications leverage new framework developments - CORBA

DOE 2000 Habanero Features • Security integrated into API • Improved floor control model • Web page session launch • Multiple modes • User selects session to join from list • 3D virtual rooms access sessions (ANL) • Additional tools • Shared screens (TeleViewer) • Audio/Video (MBONE, CUseeMe) • Shared Netscape browser (WebTour) • Shared editors, Instruments, etc.

  5. TeleViewer EMSL TeleViewer • Share anything on your screen, with anyone, anywhere • Any application on UNIX, Windows, Macintosh platforms • Pick a window, rectangle, or the whole screen • Print, save, copy, annotate shared region images

  6. Multi-Pane Whiteboard • Draw text, lines, shapes, etc. • Blank background or selected picture • Multiple whiteboards, with thumbnails • Parallel work within distributed groups • Addresses issues of ownership and control
