Emma Goldman • June 27th 1869 – May 14th 1940 • Anarchist, known for political activism, writing, and speeches • Played important role in the development of anarchist political philosophy in North America and Europe in the first half of the 20th century • Born in Kovno (Russian Empire), emigrated in1885 to US • Free thinking ‘rebel woman’ • Issues in writings: atheism, freedom of speech, capitalism, free love, marriage, etc.
