Why should we pay school fees?. Because we as a school value the education that our daughters get! Because this school is one of the top schools in the Country! Because we provide a socio-economic balance in the learner body that prepares our girls (young ladies) for the reality of life!.

Reasons not to pay school fees! • The government subsidises the school! • The government provides free education! • If I do not pay fees, the government will! • The Government provides teachers! • I pay my taxes!
The government subsidises the school! The government DOES subsidise our school Subsidy received over the last 3 years averaged R52 054 This covered • 29% of security OR • 28% of cleaning costs OR • 25% of electricity!
The government provides free education! The government provides free education to about 400 schools – IN THE POOREST OF AREAS! We are free to choose where to educate our daughters.
If I do not pay fees, the government will! Correct - if the Government is the people – unfortunately the Government is actually the Ministry of Finance and the Ministry of Education who decide where to spend YOUR taxes. REALITY – other parents pay for your daughter’s education if you do not – this costs our school about R2 million a year or R2 000 per fee paying learner.
The Government provides teachers and staff! • Teachers 35 : 22 • Top ups R1.5 million per year • Administrative staff 3 : 7 • Support (grounds etc) 6 : 6
I pay my taxes! This is the only reason that is wholly corect (I hope – otherwise you have a bigger problem than the finance office!) However, the Government decides what to do with this money (in most cases our effective tax rate is close to 50%)
