ABSTRACT Information networking is concerned with end –users’ communication and access to network information services. Now-a-days most of the libraries are providing their information services through their network based IT infrastructure. The purpose of this paper is to explain the use of network based library services by Management Institutes’ libraries in Jaipur. The paper accomplished with suggestion for effective utilization of LAN providing different type of Library and Information Services.

Introduction Information and Communication Technology (ICT) has made profound impact on the society in general and in the field of Library and Information Science in particular. Availability of modern ICT infrastructure forced the libraries to offer many of their services both over intranet and internet. Library networking is the use of computer networking to support all forms of communication between libraries and their users, and between libraries and their suppliers.
Aim of this paper deals with the different type of information services provided by Management Institutions in Jaipur through their network-based IT infrastructure.
Rational of the Study The present study is limited nine Management Institutes libraries in Jaipur • Jaipuria Institute of Management, Jaipur • Indian Institute of Health Management Research • RA Podar Institute of Management • International School of Informatics & Management • Institute of Rural Management • Jagan Institute of Management Studies • Amity Business School • NIMS Institute of Management • Arya College of Management Education
Objectives of the Study • To know the different types of collection of the libraries • To identify various electronic resources subscribed by the libraries. • To identify the level of library automation carried out for in house operation. • To know the level of networking and network based information services provided by these libraries
Methodology A Comprehensive survey was carried out using a structured questionnaire. Investigators visited the surveyed libraries and collected data.
Suggestions • Latest IT infrastructure should be implemented to serve the user community in better and faster ways. • For Effective use of library collection and providing pin-pointed information services to its users. Library should use all the functional area of Automation software. • Library portal should be designed and developed, which will be gateway to an institutions’ resources for users by listing and creating a direct link to the native interface of each resource and also for providing their different services.
2 • Library should be connected to the institutional Local Area Network as well as that of other Management Institute through Networking. There need of a special Library network for management Institutes in Jaipur for Resources Sharing. • To create a library website presenting information regarding library collection, services and facilities provided by the library.
Conclusion The use of Application of ICT in Management Institutes libraries is help full to acquire the right information at the right time in the right place at the right of cost. It improves the status of library and it reduces the work load of library professional. Librarian should provide pin pointed information using ICT tools extensively, to ensures the optimum utilization of the resources and ensuring the satisfaction of the users. The data of B-school libraries need to provide addition different important information and services thorough their network-based IT infrastructure. Comparison to today’s providing information services with latest IT infrastructure by top B-School libraries in India is far away.
