Basic life events • Was born Feb. 6, 1911 and died Jun. 5, 2004 (93 years old) • Was a movie star in the 1930’s • Love is in the air, Dark Victory, Santa Fe Trail, and Knute Rockne, All American • Married to Nancy Reagan • Went to Eureka College • Was Governor of California as a Republican from 1967-1975 • Became President in 1981 and stepped down in 1989 (2 terms) • Almost assassinated by John Hinckley Jr on March 30. 1981

Reaganomics • The economic policies of the former US president Ronald Reagan, associated especially with the reduction of taxes and the promotion of unrestricted free-market activity.( Basically, reduce taxes for everyone and let company set their own prices rather than having the government set the prices for them).

  4. Reagans policies to the economy President Reagan wanted to control the economy by: • Reduce the growth of government spending • Reduce the marginal tax rates on income from both labor and capital • Reduce regulation • Reduce inflation by controlling the growth of the money supply

The end of the cold war • The global competition between the United States and the Soviet Union, which consumed both nations for 46 years, cost hundreds of billions of dollars and led to building of the most destructive weapons ever known to man. • In the end Ronald Reagan out-powered the soviets with many explosives and nukes. • “Mr. Gorbachev, Tear down this wall!” is the famous quote the Reagan said in one of his speeches.
