THTR30066: Major Research Project -Initial Express of Interest- Zeenat Bidassy N0211220
Initial idea • To create an interactive 4D maze (to engulf the audience within the experience) with a content of British Myth/Legend/Folktale riddles to be solved (for example, secret passage ways to be unlocked to review installation of the theme). • I would ideally like to create the 4D experience using image or video project of my actual design. • I would like to create a practical maze (e.g. walls on truck) that can change (lifted/inverted) and move during the course of the journey to uncover another part or path of the maze leading an installion.
The Installations • Ideally I would like to design 3 installation from the British Myth/Legend/Folktale theme. • These installations could be anything from a set installation to a costume installation, so long as the audience can interact (Sit on/ Touch/ Smell/ Eat, etc) with it. I would like to collaborate with someone else here to create the installations. • Performance (e.g. dance) is also an element I would like to incorporate, again in collaboration.
Design/ location • Originally I would have liked to exhibit the maze outdoor in a courtyard or garden, however due to practical reasons I think it would be better being constructed internally. • I would like to design a “Library Maze”. Whether I can find a ‘fitting’ library with the practical and esthetical means or creating on in a found space which is also practical enough (bringing in equipment/ safety/ accessibility, etc) • Importantly I would like to work very closely in my design on setting the right atmosphere. (set dressing if needed, sound, lighting)
Audience • Ages of 16 – above • International school groups • Tourists
Rational Theme: • Because it is... • Culture Rich and enlightening • Can be educational Design • Because it is... • An interesting metaphor and symbolism to through journey of life and can be applied to most individuals growing up and sometimes wanting to back or even searching for a path. Audience • At an age they can relate to the metaphor. • Can be informed about a part our/their culture which has been out of sight.
