  4. Integration of Learning Strategies Initiative Fall 2010 • Begin integration of learning strategy instruction • Gateway courses • Non-gateway courses

  7. What’s involved in integrating learning strategies into the curriculum? • Choose one learning concept: • Read to understand • Listen actively • Organize for effectiveness • Choose one of two strategies selected for each concept.

  9. What’s involved in integrating learning strategies into the curriculum, cont. • Receive training in how and why to use the strategy. Workshop Opportunities SAILS Summer Academy One-on–one Conferences

  10. Integrating, cont. • Directly teach the strategy to your students through modeling. • Embed the strategy in tasks or assignments of your choice. Provide feedback. • Use the appropriate rubric to assess the first and final tasks or assignments. • Submit data to Institutional Research.

  11. Rubrics Evaluate student’s ability to: • Read to understand, Listen actively, or Organize for effectiveness And • Use the strategy
