Physical Environment • Design of Physical Environments can: • Attract individuals to an environment • Promote specific behaviors • Facilitate the accomplishment of environmental goals (e.g. learning; multiculturalism) (Bitner, 1992)
Human Aggregate Environment • Environment-Person “Fit” • --individuals naturally gravitate towards social environments that reflect their innate personalities, beliefs, attitudes (Strange and Banning, 2001)
Constructed Environment • Culture: "evolved context" that is rooted in history; embedded values and social structures of organization • Climate: "refers to a situation;" relates to thoughts, feelings, behaviors of organization members (Denison, 1996)
