The Purpose • This observatory is here to search info on the sun. Not only do they take pictures from Earth but also they have satellites up in space. They have taken pictures of solar flares, prominences, happenings, ballets, and eclipses.
The Date of this Mission • The date of when they sent up the satellite was in 1995 and was supposed to stay up there for 5 years but stayed up till 2005 which was its 10th anniversary.
Latest News • The scientists here at the Solar Dynamics Observatory have been studying the sun for a long time and have recently discovered ultraviolet wavelengths which are falsely colored in this depiction.
Important Outcomes • The Solar Dynamics Observatory has collected a lot of information. They get so much info from there satellites that they could fill a CD with information every 36 seconds. • With all the information they have collected they have made themselves their own ground station which is connected to there satellites.

SDO Patch • This is the patch for the SDO Mission. There are all different patches for each mission. The SDO stands for Solar Dynamics Observatory which is written on the patch. It shows a picture of the sun because that is what they study.
