  2. Khiva – city of fairy tales Khiva- open air city museum, is one of the most ancient cities of the Great Silk Road. In it's time, Khiva was considered as the largest trade center in Khorezm and played a very important role on the Great Silk Road. The early information on Khiva has appeared in "Avesta" by the historian Herodot. Khiva is considered to be of 2500 years old, and this information is confirmed by the archeological excavations and findings in the region. Khiva is one of the first Central Asian cities to be added to the list of UNESCO world heritage list, being added in 1990. In 1997 Khiva celebrated its 2500th anniversary.
