Planning to fly with your pet? Here are some things you should know!
E N D
You will find a bewildering array of rules and regulations from different airlines when it comes to taking pets along on flights. Some won’t allow you to carry your pet beyond the LGA parking. Some others are very lenient on this front. But the majority of airlines fall in the middle ground, and have some advisories for people planning to fly with pets. You need to find out from your respective airline what their rules are, but in general there are certain dos and don’ts when you are flying with pets, which hold true for more or less all airlines.
The most important thing for you is to accept that pets carry germs and disease more easily than humans, so it would be unfair of you subject your fellow travellers to illness. That is why you must have your pet taken through a thorough health check before the journey. Most airlines would ask for such a document anyway. Even if your pet is usually kept clean, it is advisable to give it a good scrub before the journey, so that you can avoid the snide fingers-on-nose gestures from other travellers. Before leaving your car at cheap LAX parking, make sure your pet is secured in the carrier or crate you have brought.
