Prerequisites • A reasonable working knowledge of Adaptive Server IQ-M • A working knowledge of SQL • Some experience in Database Administration
Performance and Tuning • In order the following are vital for performance : • 1) Database Design • 2) Database Design • 3) Database Design
Also • In addition to Database Design the following are helpful : • Correctly sized hardware • Correct Set-up for IQ-M • Knowledge of Application • Ability to understand what IQ-M is doingand help IQ-M to perform faster
Performance and Tuning • In this course we can only suggest ideas and methods • The application of these ideas and methods is up to you • If anyone finds something that seems to work – tell us, so we can incorporate the ideas
Performance and Tuning • A lot of what we teach here is heuristic – we tried it once (or twice) and it works • But a large amount comes from the engineers and comes under the heading of “well this should work this way!” • If this doesn’t happen in the field – let us know – and we will try and find out why
