  4. Causes of Migration • Growing Families- Baby Boom • More Space • Emerging Wealth • GI Bill of Rights • Low cost mortgages for WWII vets

  5. Meet the Demand • Developments: • Levittown • Long Island- 17,000 homes • Bucks County, PA 16,000 homes American Dream- “The little house with the white picket fence and a dog named Spot.”

  6. How to Get There? • The Automotive Boom • People needed cars • People had money • Increased dependence=increased demand • Rise of Automakers • 8 million cars/year • New models by the year
