What we know, History • There is significant interference today • More coming • The problem is not conducive to automatic detection and mitigation within .11 • Too many complexities • TGe doesn’t want the problem • There are more important issues • Most of the problem is with STA’s that have both .11 and BlueTooth in the same box.   3. What .11 Needs To Do • Provide the customer a means to manage the problem. • In simple terms that they can understand • Give equipment vendors a simple implementation • Provide .15 with a clear path to a workable solution Chris Zegelin, Symbol Technologies

The Beacon Element • Simply indicates to the BSS when to keep quiet and for how long. • .15 will own the definition and specification • Becomes a .15 recommended practice that the vendors can implement if they want to accommodate this problem. • .11 need only specify the beacon element number reserved for this purpose. • May not need to be part of the .11 standard Chris Zegelin, Symbol Technologies

  5. The Motion • To direct the ANA (assigned numbers authority) to reserve a specific element ID for ownership and specification by the .15 working group. Chris Zegelin, Symbol Technologies

What We Learned • People just wanted to check this out before a vote • The original motion was a blank check… needed to be much more specific • TGh quiet period element is close enough • 802.15 could use this with no action by .11 • This could be used by manufactures to ‘solve’ the problem in ‘standard’ way. The New Motion • To direct the 802.11 WG ANA (assigned numbers authority) to reserve a specific element ID for use by the 802.15 TG2 working group under the rules established for the ANA. • This element be called the “802.15 Co-existence Element”. • That 802.15 the available document “01000D05P802-15-2_Draft_Recommended_Practice” or subsequent revisions for review and letter ballot approval by both the 802.11 and 802.15 WGs. • Moved: 2nd: Chris Zegelin, Symbol Technologies
